The game is played in the mind before it is played on the field.

A leading-edge approach to football performance, wellbeing and team unity.

Professional football has transformed almost beyond recognition. Sports science measures players’ bodies. GPS monitors movement. Nutrition is analysed. Sleep is monitored. Tactics are scrutinised. Video analysis examines almost every movement on the pitch.

Yet there remains another extraordinary frontier:

The human mind

Football already recognises sports psychology and mental performance. Super Conscious Coaching seeks to explore territory beyond conventional approaches – combining mental rehearsal, emotional regulation, belief, relationships, group dynamics, mind-body awareness and the potential influence of the wider emotional environment surrounding a team.

These ideas are not yet standard practice throughout professional football. We believe they deserve serious exploration.

Performance without fear

A footballer performing under excessive stress is not the same footballer performing with freedom, confidence and clarity.

Our principles are designed to help reduce unnecessary stress and performance anxiety; develop confidence without arrogance; use mental rehearsal and visualisation effectively; recover psychologically from mistakes and setbacks; reduce destructive internal dialogue; improve relationships and communication within the squad; develop a coherent and supportive team environment; and support recovery, wellbeing and resilience.

We also explore mind-body approaches that may complement established sports science and injury-prevention programmes.

We do not replace doctors, physiotherapists, psychologists, sports scientists or coaching staff.

We add another dimension.

Injury, stress and the mind-body connection

Physical injury has many causes, and no responsible programme should pretend otherwise.

But stress, muscular tension, sleep, concentration, confidence, emotional wellbeing and decision-making can all interact with an athlete’s physical state.

Our work therefore explores how reducing unnecessary stress and improving mental and emotional wellbeing may support established injury-prevention and recovery programmes.

A calmer mind. A freer body.
A better environment for performance.

And then there are the supporters...

This may be the most unconventional part of our vision.

Football traditionally treats supporters as spectators. We see them as participants in the emotional environment.

Imagine 30,000 supporters understanding that their collective attitude matters. Imagine replacing fear with expectation. Abuse with encouragement. Negativity with belief. Imagine supporters learning some of the same mental principles being taught to the players.

Not because positive support can magically guarantee a result. It cannot. But because players are human beings – and human beings respond to their environment.

What if the crowd became part of the performance team?

We want to explore programmes that involve players, coaches, staff AND supporters. Because a football club is more than eleven players. It is a living community.

John knows football from both sides of the boardroom door.

John Campbell has supported Brighton & Hove Albion for more than seven decades. He subsequently became a shareholder, Director, co-owner and Vice Chairman of the club.

He therefore understands something unusual: football from the terraces AND football from inside the boardroom.

Today, John and Annie want to bring their combined experience into football and ask questions the game may not yet be asking.

The next competitive advantage may not be something you can see.

Relationships

Life happens through relationships. Partners. Children. Parents. Colleagues. Teams. Friends. And perhaps the most important relationship of all: The relationship we have with ourselves.
